November 2019 NPD Sales Results –

November is traditionally one of the most important months for sales in the video game industry, and 2019 is no different. Although they have released some remarkable games during the month, they have not managed to surpass Call of Duty: Modern warfare, which has taken over again. Total sales in the video game industry fell 19% compared to November last year to $2.3 billion.

On the hardware side, the Nintendo Switch was again the best-selling system in November. It is the only system on the market that shows annual growth as this generation comes to an end and gamers are waiting for the launch of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X (the new console from Microsoft) for the upcoming holidays.

Even with the ongoing sales of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the best-selling title is currently the best-selling fighting game in American history. And she just became one! This means that this open end title will undoubtedly continue to boost sales in the coming years.

The Pokémon sword and shield made their debut on the Swap. Together, these games have reached the highest monthly Pokémon sales in American history. Although this is impressive, it should be noted that the Switch games cost $ 60 each, while the 3DS games went on sale for $ 40. If the games had been together, they would have finished in second place. They were in the top 20 the whole month, but so they came on the 3rd, 4th and 5th place on the top 20 list. Note that Nintendo doesn’t report digital sales of NPD, so they could be even higher in the top 20 as other games also include digital sales.
