Are you having problems with the internet connection when you try to play Valheim on your computer? Don’t worry, you’re not alone.
Walheim affects the speed of the Internet connection of many users and leads to desynchronization and time delay.
What kind of insect is that?
I’m not sure if it’s a bug or not. It’s probably one of the strangest problems I’ve ever seen or heard of in an online game. Of course, Valheim is a great title, and it’s a good thing that the indie game is getting so much attention and good feedbacks. But there is no denying that this game has serious problems. Not necessarily in the game, but certainly in the technical department.
Apparently Valheim causes many PC users to lose their internet connection or download speed. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a game affecting internet speed. Anyway, here is how Steam user /4epel describes the problem:
After starting the game, the Internet speed increases from 100 / 200 Mbps to 8 / 0.1 throughout the system. This causes lag and desynchronization of people in multiplayer mode. Is there any way to solve this problem?
Read what he has to say and tell me it doesn’t sound strange to you. According to him, Walheim is lowering Internet speeds from 100/200 Mbps to 8 Mbps. Strange, isn’t it?
Here is another Steam user, /Silverbuu, who is also experiencing something similar. Here’s his side of the story:
I’m trying to join friends in a game that’s already going on, and sometimes they can see me, but most of the time I’m out of sync and can’t do anything. I can’t play for more than a few seconds. Waiting doesn’t accomplish anything. I should note that one of the people playing on this server lives in the same house as me, no problem.
As an upgrade, I can host and players can join me and we can play for a while, but not the other way around.
I look at F2, I connect to the server, I see the things they did, I let “recv” run a little bit, but then it drops to 0 and it stays like that. Sent jumps but “recv” stays at 0.
The question now is whether there is a solution.
Is there a problem?
The good news is that there is a solution. The bad news is that, for now, it only works for Lenovo users. In fact, /4epel himself has proposed this solution. Here’s what he recommended:
I found a solution: just disable Lenovo’s network optimization (for Lenovo netbooks).
Len’s point of view. It’s called “network expansion.” It’s likely that the same technology works the same way on different computers.
Let me clarify his statement. According to him, there is an application called Lenovo Vantage that comes pre-installed in Lenovo gaming laptops. In that application, there is a feature called Network Boost. And all he did was turn it off.
Another user confirmed in the same post that this solution does indeed work:
Cheers! That solved the problem for me too. For me, it was the network gain in the Lenovo Vantage application. I am in the Lenovo legion. Thanks again!
Here is a link to the original article. Give it a try.
Note: Valheim is still having server problems. Problems that can only be solved by developers. Obviously, the developers did not expect such a phenomenal response, and certainly not with 150,000 simultaneous players per day. The servers will improve over time, which will also eliminate latency and “out-of-sync” problems. Give them some time.
That’s all we have so far. I’ll be adding more soon. Click here to visit the Valheim Steam discussion page and see what others have to say about it.
That’s it, folks!
