The Ins and Outs of Roulette Bets

When it comes to spinning the iconic Roulette wheel, with today’s technological advancements, there are multiple ways in which players can play. This can be in person at a casino establishment or virtually when logged into a trusted and verified online casino website.

So, whether you’ll be playing casino games online for real money, or down at your local brick-and-mortar casino, there are various bets you can place within a game of Roulette. So, knowing which is best to place for your gameplay prediction can help boost your confidence when deciding where to place your betting chip(s).

The Ins and Outs of Roulette Bets

With this in mind, let’s explore the ins and outs of Roulette bets. Scroll to find out more.

The ins

When you place a betting chip inside the number section of a Roulette table layout, this is known as an inside bet. These include bets such as:

  • Straight Up – If you want to place a bet on a single number, this is known as a straight-up bet. The odds tied to this bet type are 35:1. To place a straight-up bet, simply place a betting chip(s) in the box containing the number that represents the pocketed compartment you believe the ball will land in once spun into play.
  • Basket – Also known as First Four, this bet requires a player to place at least four chips down within four different numbered boxes. However, these numbered boxes must be numbers zero, one, two, and three. The odds tied to this bet type is 6:1.

The outs

Not only are there inside bets that can be placed for your predicted outcome, but you can also place bets known as outside bets too, which are placed on the outskirts of the table layout. These include:

  • Low / High – If you’d prefer to predict the category of the number rather than the number itself, there’s an outside bet called low/high. This is where you can place a wager on whether the winning number will be in the low category of 1 – 18 or the high category of 19 – 36. To place this bet, you’ll need to place a betting chip(s) in the box containing either low/1-18 or high/19-36. The odds attached to this bet type is 1:1.
  • Odd / Even – Rather than predicting if the winning number is low or high if you’d rather predict if the number will be odd or even, this bet type is for you. Close to the low/high boxes on the table layout, you’ll also find odd / even boxes too – it’s here you’ll need to place your betting chip(s) to place this type of bet. The odds attached are, again, 1:1.
  • Red / Black – If you’d prefer to wager on the color of the pocketed compartment of the wheel rather than the number or its value, the red/black bet allows you to do just this. This box to place your betting chip(s) will either be filled in with the color, written as red or black or, in some cases, contain a diamond of the color it’s representing.
