Square Enix has revealed the final name of the project Athia: Said. The RPG, originally announced for 2020, is being developed by Luminous Productions. Forspoken is a narrative adventure in the land of Atia.

Luminous Productions is made up of veterans of the Final Fantasy XV team. Forspoken also presents film and television talent. The writing team is led by Gary Whitta, whose credits include Rogue One: Star Wars Story, Star Wars Rebels, and many Walking Dead video games.

The main character of the game is Frey Holland, who is transported to the land of Atia and must learn to use his magical powers to survive. Freya is played by Ella Balinska, who was featured in the 2019 film Charlie Angels and several television series, including Athena and Midsomer Murders.

It’s the first video game I’ve worked on, and it’s great to see the incredible world and story of Forspoken blurring the lines between reality and fantasy. Frey’s character is real, raw, she’s a girl who’s lost her way – literally and figuratively – and she’s a character I immediately felt connected to, just as I think many people around the world will as they embark on this journey. – Ella Balinska

Forspoken is scheduled for release around 2022 for PC and Sony PlayStation 5. The developers claim that the game is specifically designed for the PlayStation 5 to take advantage of its next-gen features.
