As appealing as cruising through Sea of Thieves with friends is, the four-player limit can be a bit frustrating if you’re with a large group. There is no way to get more than four friends on one instance of Sea of Thieves, and custom servers are not currently available unless you are part of the Insider program. However, there is a viable and unofficial way to get large groups on the same server – you just have to be a little patient.
This may sound like a trick or an urban legend, but the following method has worked for us several times. The quickest way to find out if you’re on the same server as a friend who isn’t part of your crew is the Ferry of the Damned, a haunted ghost ship that you end up on after your pirate character dies and before you’re transferred to the ferry. However, this requires a lot of trial and error.

First, it’s much easier if you and one of your friends are in the same neighborhood. In our experiment, this method was successful with two players both located on the east coast of the United States. For the purposes of this tutorial, let’s assume that eight different players try this method to assemble two galleons. You can try different combinations of players and ships, but the results may be different.
Start by asking each player to put together their own tight-knit team. Coordinate with all resources, such as. B. Voice chat, so that all players press the sail at the same time. You can use a countdown or a program like time.is if you want to be super accurate. At the beginning of each session, you wake up in the tavern and your main goal is to kill your pirate character as quickly as possible to reach the Ferry of the Damned.

The quickest way to do this is to look for missing barrels; you should start by checking the barrels in the tavern. If you can’t find them now, there are some on your ship, but make sure you take the next step outside your ship. Two or three well-placed bombs at your feet will deplete the entire health bar, then eliminate the smuggler’s soul to speed things up. Light bombs may take longer, and drowning will certainly take longer. However you do it, you will end up in the Ferry of the Damned.
So play the waiting game. Each player in your group must do the same in their session. Wait until each player is dead, and if you do well, you’ll meet one of them on the ferry. If you are all dead and none of you have seen the other, start over by clicking on Quit Game and start again. Our experience is that this takes a minimum of 10 minutes and a maximum of 45 minutes.

If you pass, don’t start again. Instead, two or more players who have found each other must rest when exiting the ferry. Then invite all the other players in your group to their play sessions. Assuming you make eight players with two galleons, the two players who found each other should invite up to three other players so they are all in the same session.
Coordinate to find each other on the map, as you will likely be in several outposts, fly alliance flags to unite, and continue your journey with a stronger crew. This setting would be perfect for the achievement The Legend of Glitterbeard, which requires eight players to participate in the puzzle together.
