Well, the last expansion for undergrowthgames’ “Turning Liches” and “The Crimson Branch” has been out for a couple weeks now, so I guess I can post about the expansion here. The expansion is called simply “An expansion to converted Kuva Liches and The Crimson Branch” and is an expansion for undergrowthgames’ “Turning Liches” and “The Crimson Branch” games. Given that Kuvas can command Lich railguns, and the imminent arrival of the Parvos sisters with a (seemingly) much more interesting reward in the form of Hounds, I wondered how converted Lichs could be crafted and upgraded.
IN THE MOMENT
The converted lychees have a poor and occasional supporting role, showing up, doing almost nothing and then leaving. The main reason to convert liches is not to get a personal companion, but to trade them with other players who need certain ephemera or Kuva weapons.
Similarly, Crimson Branch is a glorified trading post where only Lichs can be traded. The play serves no other purpose and repeats what has been the fate of the venue for so long: a cool play that (mostly) does nothing.
I’m going to split these ideas between GAMEPLAY and FASHION, because I think both are equally important to Warframe.
- Right away and something the ED already knows: Lichi on demand, a simpler change is not possible, don’t make it random.
- One of the biggest problems with the lich right now is that players have very little control over the power of the lich’s weapon. While the item and weapon can be reliably chosen through wiki research and planning, the bonus percentage is random. Also, it is not possible to increase the bonus after the conversion, while we can increase it on our own Kuva weapon with valence transfer.
- It would be pretty easy (conceptually, I have no idea how hard it is to program) to include valence transfer for Leach weapons. If I have 3 free Kuva Nukor, I can throw them at my Lich and strengthen his Nukor, it’s that simple.
- However, this still creates the problem that you need a separate lich for every possible weapon and item (at least in theory, in practice you’ll probably only need the top weapons). And personally, I’d rather have a few liches that I own and have a history with than 10 or 20 that I can interchange between them. A simple solution? Allow liches to change weapon after conversion, using the same system that the Railjack team now uses, but only for Kuva weapons.
- But leeches are more than their weapons (or should be), they have Warframe properties, something unique, specific to the way they were made. And they are disappointing. They are so weak that even at the exit, everything but the food survives easily. The solution? It’s in her name, Kuva. We have a supply of the stuff, why don’t we expand the Crimson Branch and we can strengthen our Lichs by filling them with old blood. Increase their abilities, maybe even upgrade them, give us ability trees for leeches, let them use Helminth abilities – the possibilities are endless. This could also be a good use of Kuva for players who don’t like or fit the Riven system.
- The mod is just as important as the gameplay (at least to me), and we have no control over the logout. All we can influence is the basic color scheme, any ephemera, and the body type our future Leach will have. And the head that adorns his shoulder.
- All types of armor, accessories and colors depend on the occasion. There is a certain fun-factor, it’s great that lychees are diverse and (quite) unique in appearance, I’m not against it at all. But I’d also like to give my lich different clothes from time to time, a new helmet, a cool cape, maybe one of those cool Kuva eye patches. Some with ephemera, my very first lich has been with me since the system came out, but he has no ephemera and it would be a mistake to replace him just because the new guy looks cooler.
- The solution, and a whole new reward cycle for the foxes, is to force the defeated foxes to give up (part of) their armor. If I fight the lich and defeat it, why can’t I rip off a piece of the armor and give it to my faithful companion? With this new helmet, the blood will be peeling off in no time!
- The same goes for ephemera, our pets can equip them, why not the creatures they come from? Limit them to their respective elements if necessary, but why couldn’t I dress them in fire or ice?
- And this could be extended to other areas of the game. It might be a little weird that my buddy always has my severed head hanging on his shoulder, but what if I made him wear Stalker’s head instead? The head of the jackal? Vay Hek’s? Another reason to revisit some of the bosses you last fought years ago.
And where will all this fashion and decor take place? Why in the Crimson Branch? The room is of course already specifically geared towards Lichs, their concept is so cool, and I’d really like to have more control over our wrinkled buddies.

- Leechy Cuva: Nemesis in evolution
With positive changes on the horizon for the Kuva Liches, one aspect of the system is still missing: It feels like a nemesis that evolves over time depending on the player’s actions. To this end, I propose the following changes/additions: An incipient lich after the creation of a lich…
- An idea for the Kuva Lich Corps: Network ghosts.
My friend and I were talking, and the issue of the Kuva-Lisha corpus came up. And we thought they must be essentially physical brains of super AI in a machine. This means that a body that has risen high enough on the ladder to have enough money…..

The Lichi Kuva is a nice addition to Warframe, but I think it needs improvement. Here are some of my suggestions for turning leeches into real enemies we’d like to fight. This is going to be a long read, but enjoy it and let me know what you think! Leeches dying (again) and…

Frequently Asked Questions
What happens when you convert a KUVA Lich?
The Kuva Lich is a powerful creature that escaped from the Kuva fortress after the Grineer discovered Kuva. While it was never seen on Earth before, it is believed that the Kuva Lich is the source of the artifacts that have been appearing in our Solar System for the past few years. It wields a powerful staff that fires beams of concentrated Kuva energy, which it uses to empower its servants, the Kuva Guardians. Although the Kuva Lich is immune to most forms of damage, it is vulnerable to crowd-control abilities which disrupt its mastery of Kuva energy. This text is sensitive. Can you trade KUVA Liches?
I recently started a new game, and I didn’t really know what I was doing, so I got bored and decided to try out Nekros’ Shadow of the Tomb Raider-esque voice. After failing to successfully pull off a trade with a player who was offering to sell me a Kuva Lich, I realized that the game mechanics don’t really make sense. According to the trading text, Kuva Liches are a kind of resource that you can trade, and the seller is asking for 15. However, Liches do not appear in the market, and I couldn’t figure out how to get one, either. In fact, Nekros’ salesman didn’t even recognize the name of the thing he was selling, and his only response was In Warframe, Kuva is an essential resource used to build Warframes and weapons. Kuva is obtained by killing enemies in the void or a Kuva Siphon mission. Kuva is required to enter a Kuva Siphon, which spawns a Kuva Guardian. Kuva Guardians are harmful enemies that can drop Kuva upon death. The Kuva Guardians can be converted into Kuva at the Kuva Siphon.
How do you get Lich ephemera?
Lich ephemera is one of the most powerful, but also one of the most difficult items to get in Warframe. Fortunately, this article will tell you all you need to know about how to get lich ephemera. If you’ve got some spare time or Warframe Platinum, you can go through the effort to farm the materials you need, or you can just buy them off the Warframe marketplace. Either way, you won’t regret it when you receive your first engram. Lich ephemera is a currency that can be used to buy a specialized weapon called the Lich. This is a weapon that can only be used by a Tenno. It shoots a ball of energy that explodes into a storm of shards. The energy ball that is shot out of the Lich is somewhat slow, but it is faster than a regular bullet. The shards that are shot out of the ball will travel in a straight line, and will home in on enemies after hitting them.
