James GordanAlthough the National League was closed for more than four months because of the effects of COWID-19, 2020 was an important year for many top players. To celebrate the performance of the past calendar year, EA Sports announced the 1. In January the Team of the Year (TOTY) for 2020 will be announced, determined by fan voting. Each player who managed to reach TOTY received special items for the Ultimate Hockey team, which can be obtained by signing packages or completing Master Sets.

Six players (Leon Draisaitl, Artemi Panarin, David Pastrnak, Viktor Hedman, Cale Makar, Andrei Vasilevskiy) received special items for the hockey team and each of these athletes has a TOTY champion.
Team of the Year players are very valuable in NHL 21. Each of these six cards is automatically updated according to the element of the highest ranked player. By way of illustration: Leon Draisait’s TOTY product was in the 93 OVR range at the time of launch. However, if Draisaitl is elected Team of the Week at 95 OVR later in the year, the TOTY card will also be upgraded to 95 OVR.
To obtain one of these items, NHL players have several options. Users can either take a chance and try to draw these cards from the packs or complete the TOTY sets in the Team of the Year sets folder. The Team of the Year jerseys are as follows:
- Two Master of the Year collections – 20 gold collectors or 6 collectors and 18 gold collectors are needed.
- Six jerseys for the team of the year (one for each player).

Players can grab the TOTY collectibles by completing the Team of the Year career challenges. In addition, NHL players can play the week of the 31st. Until December 7th. January to pick up a TOTY collection after completing all levels at Hut Rus. With regard to gold collectibles, NHL users can obtain them by exchanging gold and gold rarities. A gold collector requires 50 players.
Which cards should you aim?
Our choice for this promotion is to go for Drysettle, Makar and Pastarnack. The Pastrnak has fantastic shooting and skating qualities and the Bruins winger also has valuable lift qualities. Yes, Pastrnak may not get many updates this year because he was injured in real life, which reduces his chances of getting an updated item, but the attributes are worth it.
Makar has excellent skating and passing stats, both of which are very useful for defenders. As far as Draisaitl is concerned, the star of the Oilers is very balanced, but the skating is not phenomenal. But the German feeling has perhaps the most valuable synergy in the NHL 21: the distributor. If you have the option or if you already have a distribution synergy, Draisaitl is definitely worth adding if you have coin and/or gold players to complement the game.
The NHL 21 Team of the Year Masterset takes place on the 8th. January 2021.
