Each area of the game has a threat level, which indicates how difficult that area is for players. There are many ways to reduce the threat to the areas, including removing minefields and convoys.
Clear minefields
As the name suggests, minefields are essentially areas where mines are placed. If you go in unconsciously, they’ll explode and cause Max’s immediate death. To prevent you from accidentally walking into a minefield and to reduce the threat level in the area, you can disarm minefields.
Finding minefields in the game is quite difficult. Although we have listed the locations of all minefields below, it is useful to know how to find minefields. To find them, you have to use the Buggy Plague. As soon as you get near the minefield, Dinky Dee dog starts barking. Just drive your car in the direction of the dog barking and the location of the minefield will be shown.
Continue slowly in the same direction until the dog starts crying. Once that happens, it means there’s a minefield nearby. You’ll find a minefield on the ground and all you have to do is walk towards it and press the Interact button to deactivate it.
How to eliminate convoys
Another step you can take to reduce the threat level is to destroy the convoys. Convoys are essentially groups of enemy vehicles patrolling a particular route. Each column has an escort vehicle, and if you destroy the escort vehicle, the entire column will be destroyed. Although it is difficult to approach the leader directly, it is always possible in the first areas.
Lead trucks can be destroyed in various ways, including by pulling the fuel tank. However, if you want to be more tactical, it’s a good idea to take out the rest of the enemies before continuing with the main truck. An upgrade that damages nearby enemy vehicles is also very useful, but you can also just stop the whole convoy by shooting at the tires of enemy vehicles. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to get straight to the point or go for tactics.

Mine fields are marked with a red explosive symbol and the red dotted lines indicate the routes of the convoy.
