Row

Sokodice is a challenging puzzle game with a clean, minimalist setting. To solve the puzzle, you must roll the dice on the stage so that the number of dice matches the number on the marked tile. The idea is that the two cubes cross the stage with a minimum of movement. The number of moves is shown at the bottom of the puzzles. Each die must fall on the corresponding number, and this number must be on top of the die. So, if there are three on the board, the dice must be pointing up at that time.

Determine number of transactions

If you manage to get both cubes in the right place, proceed to the next step. As mentioned earlier, it takes a number of moves to complete the puzzle. However, you can control this number of moves without being penalized for it. You don’t get stars for completing a scene, you just move on to the next puzzle. Instead, you’ll get a small gold cube for the levels you complete within a certain number of rounds.

I like this system because you have the choice of completing the puzzle in a few moves or managing the completion of the puzzle in a number of moves. This takes the pressure off and forces Sokodice to play in a relaxed manner.

The fact that you land on a target field with a certain number of dice makes Sokodice an interesting game. In the first stages of Socodice you will become familiar with the controls. They’re pretty easy to learn, and you start with a cube on stage to teach you the ropes. Then another die appears on the scene, and you are dealing with two dice, not just one. In other phases, four cubes can be placed for the maneuver and the challenge becomes greater.

Some phases are easy to get through and others are harder, at least for me. I was very lucky if I could solve the stage in the given number of moves, usually I was far behind but eventually I solved it. You can always go back and solve the puzzles again if you want to complete them within the set number of moves.

Mechanical news

Every ten steps, a new mechanism is added to shake things up. From ice that makes cubes slide, to wind turbines that hit cubes in different places, to tiles that cubes can’t stand on for long before they disintegrate under them. There are bones that rotate on their axis when you move them, so you can’t guarantee their landing. It keeps the game fresh by introducing new mechanics in over 100 stages. You can also make the cubes invisible, so you can see the scene below them. The transparent mode is a good idea, but with it you can’t see the numbers on the dice, I think the numbers should be visible to the player.

Sokodice Review (Nintendo Switch) | LadiesGamers

Aids and visual controls

Sokodice looks sleek, and I like the way the puzzle game presents itself at first glance so you can see everything. It comes with a relaxing soundtrack that goes well with the gameplay.

Since Sokodice was originally a mobile game, it’s nice to see that the developers kept the touch controls for the Nintendo Switch version of the game. You can also use the Joy-Cons to play, and both operating systems work as they should.

It takes a while for the game to load when you turn it on. For a small puzzle game, it is surprising that it has a long loading time at the beginning of the game.

Supplement

Sokodice is a fun puzzle game. With just the right amount of challenges that require thought and a bit of strategy to solve the puzzles.

Socodice offers hours of on-the-go dice fun with 100 puzzles to get your brain working. It would also be fun to play a few levels while driving to work and take advantage of the portability of the Nintendo Switch.

Final Judgment : Two thumbs up
