Shadow Lugia Pokemon Go: Kanto Raid Day and New Shadow for Giovanni

A Kanto Tour event took place on Saturday the 20th. February, but before that Niantic announced a raiddag in the Kanto for this Sunday the 28th. February, which will take place from 11am to 2pm and will be dedicated to legendary birds. There will also be a new beginning to the rocket research, in which the brand new Shadow Pokemon will take on Giovanni.

First of all, before we know the details of the event, we need to know the calendar, and here is the calendar of the next event.

Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will appear in five-star games! If you’re lucky, you might even run into Shiny Articuno, Shiny Zapdos or Shiny Molts!

These will be special raids, but will only involve the usual Articuno, Zapdos, Mutvtva and Moltres. Usually a shiny version of Pokemon appears on raid day and shiny Pokemon appear more often than usual, but apparently not this time.

We also learned that Giovanni will return with another legendary Shadow Pokémon. And this legendary Shadow Pokémon is none other than the Shadow Pokémon Lugia.

Team Rocket leader Giovanni will likely return with Shadow Lugia and Ho-Oh, as these are possible options for him to choose from. But he also has Articuno, Moltres, Raikou, Entei, Suichun, and the legendary Mewtwo. We think Shadow Lugia would make the most sense there. Shadow Lugia is one of the most iconic shadows in the game and is completely different from all other shadows in the Pokemon series.

We’re not 100% sure about Shadow Lugia and it’s just an assumption we’re making, but looking at the history of the game and Niantic, it seems so possible and makes sense. The Go Rocket team leader will be stronger and more powerful if Shadow Lugia comes with us in this 5 star raid, and all coaches will have a hard time beating him in a 5 star raid.
