Scarlet Nexus is a mix of RPG and action video games like Devil May Cry. The new trailer also shows some of the strange enemies you’ll encounter in the game when it comes out later this year. The enemies look like the ones you usually find in a Silent Hill title, flattened by Scarlet Nexus’ art style. The game will feature a unique story, which the developer describes as follows:
In the distant future, a psionic hormone has been discovered in the human brain. It gives people psychic powers and changes the world as we know it. As humanity entered this new era, crazy mutants, the Others, descended from the sky, hungry for human brains. High resistance to conventional methods of attack requires extreme measures to avert an insurmountable threat and preserve humanity.
Those with strong psychic abilities, known as psionics, were our chance to fight the attack from above. Even today, psionics seek out their talents and are recruited to the Other Oppression Forces (OSF), humanity’s last line of defense. Play as Yuito Sumeraji, an SOF recruit who wants to become an elite psionic like the one who saved him as a child. Armed with a talent for psychokinesis, explore the futuristic city of New Himuka and discover the secrets of the future of Punk Brain, caught between technology and psychic abilities in Scarlet Nexus.
