AMD Releases Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.8.2 Driver for Myst, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, and Little Nightmares II: Enhanced Edition

The new driver is said to be optimized for both AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards, with support for the latest DirectX 12 features.

The Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.8.2 driver has been published by AMD. Two of this week’s larger releases, Cyan’s Myst remake and Aliens: Elite Fireteam, a cooperative third-person survival shooter based in the Alien world, are now supported by the newest driver package.

Little Nightmares II: Enhanced Edition is a sequel to Little Nightmares. is now supported by AMD’s Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.8.2 driver. This is an updated version of the suspenseful horror game that includes graphics enhancements including ray-traced reflections, better volumetric shadows, and more game elements.

When utilizing the Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.8.2 driver over the previous version, AMD claims that Radeon RX 6800 XT users should get a 6% increase in performance in Myst at the 4K Medium level with ray tracing enabled (21.8.1).

Issues that have been resolved

  • When recording in the H265/HEVC codec on certain AMD Graphics devices, such as the Radeon RX 6800 XT, users may have trouble terminating a recording session in Open Broadcaster Software.
  • Image corruption may be seen on one of the players’ displays when playing F1 2021 in Split Screen mode.
  • When certain users try to start the Radeon software program, it may become unresponsive.
  • On certain AMD Graphics devices, such as the Radeon RX 6600 XT, users may see corrupt light rays when playing Control with DirectX 12.
  • The auto update function on Ryzen Master may stop working if you upgrade to the newest Radeon graphics driver.

Issues that have been identified

  • After a user stops a recording session and quits the program, Open Broadcaster Software may continue to operate in the background.
  • On certain AMD Graphics devices, such as the Radeon RX 6800 XT, visual abnormalities may be seen during gameplay in PAYDAY 2.
  • AMD is looking into a black screen problem that certain Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics cards may have while playing Myst or Kingshunt. Disabling Performance Metrics Overlay or Radeon Image Sharpening in Radeon Software is a temporary solution.
  • On certain AMD Graphics devices, such as the Radeon RX 500 Series Graphics, driver timeouts may occur while playing a game and streaming a video at the same time.
  • When playing certain DirectX 11 games, such as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, with several monitors connected in extended mode, Radeon Software may crash or become unusable.
  • On certain AMD Graphics devices, such as the Radeon RX 6700 XT, playing Horizon Zero Dawn for a prolonged period of time may cause a driver timeout or a game crash.
  • When activated on certain games and system settings, Enhanced Sync may result in a blank screen. As an interim solution, any users who are having problems with Enhanced Sync should deactivate it.
  • On Radeon RX Vega series graphics devices, connecting two monitors with significant variations in resolution/refresh rates may create flickering.
  • Extremely high and erroneous memory clock values may be reported by Radeon performance measurements and logging capabilities on occasion.

Known Issues with AMD Link for Windows

  • When streaming HEVC over the Internet with certain setups, there may be intermittent grey frame corruption. Instead, utilize the AVC encoding option as a workaround.
