Addle lowers Intelligence and Mind, two stats that are linked to magical damage.

Because the effect only lasts ten seconds, it’ll be extremely situational – you don’t want to use it every time it comes off cooldown.

And although a ten percent reduction may not seem like much, when applied over a whole party and combined with individual damage mitigators, the impact may be significant.

When Is It Appropriate to Cast Addle?

When you notice a boss getting ready to launch a massive magical assault that will affect the whole group, cast Addle.

Because there’s no way to tell if an attack is magical or physical right now, you’ll have to study up on the battle ahead of time to figure out when the ideal time is to cast it.

Keep an eye on the boss’ cast bar and wait for something terrible to happen. Then drop Addle on it, and with a single button click, you’ve just reduced the oncoming damage.

You don’t want to use it ahead of time, however, since Addle’s effect may expire before the opponent can cast anything.

The magical assault will thereafter be fully effective.

And casting Addle will reduce the damage done to the whole group.

Will it be able to save lives? Unlikely (and if it does, it’ll be by a hair’s breadth).

However, it may relieve some of the burden on the healers in terms of the party’s recuperation.

The little damage buffer Addle provides may be critical in Savage/EX endgame stuff, but it’s not something you should be concerned about if that content isn’t your first goal.

Is Addle Beneficial in Every Boss Battle?

It’s not that knowing when to utilize Addle outside of Savage/EX is pointless. If you use it correctly, your healers will most likely name their firstborn kid after you, or at the very least give you a cookie.

If you disregard the skill completely, most material will not be challenging enough to result in failure.

DPS checks, which depend on the party delivering a specific amount of damage rather than avoiding it, or other mechanisms that result in immediate wipes will most likely be the source of difficulties.

We had more magical damage mitigation choices back in the day.

Apocatastasis reduced the magic susceptibility of a single party member by 20%, making it a far superior choice for mitigating damage to an ally. However, it has been deleted from the game, so you’ll have to make do with Addle for the time being!

It’s possible that casting Addle at the proper time isn’t necessary for every monster you face.

It can, however, make a difference.

It’s definitely worth getting into the habit of utilizing it.
