The Xbox Game Pass service is a $10/month subscription that gives access to over 100 games. It’s one of the most expensive subscriptions in gaming, and it could be a sign of things to come.
The xbox pc game pass is a subscription service that allows users to play Xbox games on their computer. Microsoft has recently announced that they will be launching the service in May 2019, but former PlayStation boss Andrew House doesn’t think it will work out for them.

Many gamers have praised Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass membership program for its low prices and rotating library of noteworthy games, which includes day-one exclusives, but not everyone is pleased. Shawn Layden, the former CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment and president of SCE Japan, among other PlayStation-related roles, is one of the skeptics.
In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Layden said that he does not believe Xbox Game Pass would work for a variety of reasons, one of which being the high expense of game development: He said, “It’s extremely difficult to launch a $120 million game on a subscription service costing $9.99 a month,” pointing out that the Xbox console install base doesn’t meet Microsoft’s lofty subscription ambitions.
Despite the fact that Xbox Game Pass is theoretically available on cellphones and a variety of other devices due to Xbox Cloud Gaming, Layden remains gloomy and suggests that a better commercial endeavor would be discovering new methods to get otherwise disinterested parties into gaming. Layden also indicated that the need for a high-speed internet connection may be an issue for Xbox Game Pass.

“It’s very difficult to launch a $120 million game on a $9.99 per month subscription service. If you do the math, you’ll need 500 million members before you start seeing a return on your investment. That is why, for the time being, you must adopt a loss-leading position in order to expand your base. Even yet, with just 250 million consoles on the market, you won’t be able to reach half a billion members. So, how do you make a circle around that square? That hasn’t been worked out yet.”
